So, I am back writing on a blog after a long time. By a long time I mean it’s been 9 years since the last time I write on a blog. Basically I don’t write that often but sometimes there are things, like my thoughts, ideas, concerns, and other things that I need to share. Beside of that, I’m currently working on my English skills, so I will start to get used to expressing something in english, one of which is through writing. So yeah, I think that’s all for the introduction.

The first topic that I’d bring here is about being productive. Well.. most of us want to be productive. But what is the key of being productive? Does it have to be keeping ourselves busy with a lot of works? Or maybe just doing anything as long as not just laying on the bed all day long? According to some articles, I got the conclusion that being productive is when we can do something that produce something. Being productive doesn’t always mean that we can do a lot of things. It means we can spend our time to do something that make our life more going forward and meaningful. Here I will share my thoughts and my experience about what it means to be productive and what do I do to be a productive being.

Ideal Productive Day

Well.. at first, I thought to be productive means that I need to done complex tasks that produce a real and high achievement or result as I’ve done when I was still a student or done by people who are already working. Getting here, I realize that it doesn’t have to be that way. At least by completing my daily tasks makes me productive. My ideal productive day is when I can get all my tasks done in a day and I still have a time to do other things. For me, if we are used to be productive by completing simple things like our daily task regularly, It will be easier for us when someday we are faced with complex tasks. Thus, we are used to getting some things done.

Inspiration

After I graduated from college, I rewarded my self nothing but free times to relax. I spent my days laying on my bed, binge watching a series or k-drama. One day, two days until I realized that I was too carried away. It seems relaxing to have nothing to do a whole day. Yeah it does, but it just stands for couple days until I get so bored. I suddenly feel my life is stuck and empty. I feel insecure with my life. When my colleagues seem to be productive and even started to get a job, I just wasted my time to do nothing with my life. Reality slaps me hard so I decided to start filling my days with activities to get me more productive. Since that day I thought about starting to make a to-do list every day so that I know what activities I can do and I have to complete every day.

What Do I Do?

The easiest way I can do to be more focus on completing my daily tasks is to write them down on a memo. When I have an urgent task or work in a day, I usually sorted them based on the time of when each task must be done. But in the other day, when I have more casual tasks or works I just sorted them from the most important to work on first. It really helped me to get things clearer and more organized.

As a person with dual status as a fresh graduate and job seeker during this pandemic, it’s getting more hard to get a job. So I’ve been busy applying for a job, looking for an online seminar, taking courses, reviewing and upgrading my CV/resume. Since I have interest in foreign language, I recently explore content related to foreign language as well, especially english and korean. Beside of that I also do my daily routines like feeding my cats, preparing for the lunch, and doing chores. I am trying to make time more effective to complete my tasks in a day.

I usually make a list of job vacancy that I want to apply as well as I prepare the requirements that must be completed in the night, and then I send the job application in the next morning and followed by another activities and daily routines in the afternoon and so on after it returns to the night again. That’s how I usually sort everything from activity that must be done in the morning until the night.

Challenges

I am the type of person who has a hard time to focus on something — like I can’t stay still for a long time and I am easily distracted. So I can’t get things done quickly and sometimes the tasks that should be done today end up being delayed until the next day. To overcome that, I usually try to wake up earlier and set my own deadlines. Of course, this method didn’t make me to be able to overcome that instantly. I’m still working on it but I believe that the more I get used and be determined to it, the more I’ll be succeed to overcome that.
